Easy Tips to Manage Acne

Are you shocked when you hear the word ‘acne’ or when somebody spots a red dot on your face? These red bumps also called as pimples appear on the face whenever they feel like and especially a night before a date, late night parties or road trips. They appear just to ruin the upcoming day and spoil your selfies and groupfies. An estimated 70–90 percent of young adults, of both genders, suffer from acne.

Acne is a common skin disorder. Acne is basically an appearance of itchy, ugly abnormal growths on the face and all throughout the body. It can be characterized as either blackheads or whiteheads (comedones), pimples, surface bumps containing pus (pustules), deeper bumps containing pus (nodules), cysts, and sometimes abscesses (a swollen area within body tissue containing pus). Acne is caused by a buildup of dead skin cells, bacteria and dried sebum that blocks and causes inflammation of the hair follicles in the skin. This mainly results due to an interaction between hormones, skin oils and bacteria.

The use of over the counter medications to treat pimples may sometimes be harsh on the skin. It is good to try some safe and natural treatments for acne at home along with adopting few healthy habits and having a balanced and proper nutrition.

Here are few sure-shot tips and ayurvedic treatment for acne:

1.  Pamper your skin

Washing your face regularly with a gentle face wash can reduce the acne flare ups and clear clogged pores on the skin. iii. Cucumber

Cucumber is rich in potassium and vitamins, for example, A, C and E. It possesses cooling properties. Blend cucumber, make it in form of a paste and apply it on the pimples. Keep it for 15 minutes and then wash your skin with warm water. This will help clean dirt and also bacteria from skin pores.

iv. Aloe vera Gel

It alleviates irritation and redness of pimples and expels the oiliness from your skin.  Apply Aloe vera gel on the pimples, keep it for some time and wash with water.

v. Olive oil

Olive oil contains vitamins, anti-oxidants and iron. The calming properties of olive oil likewise help uproot skin breakout scars. Apply olive oil on the pimple-prone area with cotton buds before going to bed, keep it overnight and wash off your face with ordinary water.

vi. Egg White Whips

Egg white is well-known to remove pimples naturally. The yokes should be separated from the white and only the whites should be whipped and applied.

vii. Orange Peels and Juice

Orange is rich in citric acid and vitamin C. Hence using orange peels and taking the juice out of it and applying on the face could help dissolve pimples. However, it has to be done regularly and repeated at least twice or thrice a day.

viii. Mixture of Honey and Strawberry

Strawberries are rich source of salicylic acid and therefore, when mixed with honey it could help a lot in getting rid of pimples naturally. This is because salicylic acid helps to remove the dead skin faster and open up the clogged pores.

ix. Papaya 

Acne occurs because of an excessive build of dead cells and fat tissues arising from the skin surface. When applied in raw form, papaya contains a substance known as papain. It is a powerful enzyme. It helps to reduce inflammation and prevent formation of sebum and pus.

x. Basil Leaves 

It has antiinflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties. It is therefore used commonly for treating pimples and infections.

3. Water

Water is required for keeping the skin moist, flushingout the toxic waste and improving blood circulation. Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water per day.

4. Exercise regularly 

Besides reducing stress, exercise improves blood circulation to the skin. This brings essential nutrients to your skin and pulls toxins away, helping fight acne.

5. Eat Healthy

Limit your intake of junk foods and soft drinks to cut the amount of sugar in your system.
