Urethral pain

Urethral pain is pain in the tube that drains urine from the bladder and may be acute (new onset) or chronic (long-standing). Pain may be dull or sharp, constant or intermittent (comes and goes), cramping or burning. Each individual has a unique ability to tolerate pain, depending on their age, personality and circumstances. An accurate description of your pain is necessary in order to assist the doctor in diagnosing your problem. Pain in the urethra may be caused by a urinary tract infection or a sexually transmitted disease. In these cases, once the problem is treated, the pain will resolve.
